||Just A Taste||

So, Ireland. I didn't realize I had any expectations until I arrived that first evening and every single one of them were exceeded. Basically everything you've heard about the place is true. All shades of green exist in even the cities, the people are so welcoming and hospitable and the Guinness is nothing short of amazing!

The first three days of our trip were spent in a town called Killarney where we experienced our first Irish Bed and Breakfast. I must say B&B's are the way to go in Ireland and I highly recommend them over a hotel. In Killarney we were about a half an hour walk away from town and renting a car wasn't the way we wanted to go (trust me we were doing the locals a favor) so we decided to walk just about every where. Town was very European with its colorful shops and photogenic alley ways, which of course I loved. But the national park is a whole other story, for this is the place where we got our first real taste of just how beautiful the color green is and the breath taking effects of rain. The B&B we stayed at owned a horse and buggy and as cliche as it sounds we went on a carriage ride but the fact that we got a personal tour and a knowledgeable tour guide took away much of the cheesiness. It was fun and I think it was the perfect three days to start off our trip.

Next we spent a week in the middle of no where at a self help cottage in a little village called Tulla. With a population of two and only one restaurant and pub we were forced to take a cab into town. Don't get me wrong we loved the village but we also wanted to explore the city of Innis which was a little bigger than Killarney.  On our days where we didn't go to the cities, because the weather happened to be exceptionally sunny and dry we took long walks down narrow roads on the hunt for cliffs and old castles. Tulla was different and not having WiFi at my fingertips was humbling and truth be tolled, though it did give me anxiety at times, it was much needed and a good reminder to not become dependent on inanimate objects.

Our last stop was the great city of Athlone where we stayed at a four star B&B and were treated like queens for our last three days. The old couple that owned the B&B fed us the most delicious breakfasts, showed us an extensive ceramic art collection and took us into town and basically where ever we wanted, free of charge. It was pretty ridiculous how awesome they were.

Our very last day was spent in Dublin and this is just one of the examples of how much the Lord truly blessed our trip. The whole time my Grandma had just a few things she really wanted to experience while in Ireland. Seeing traditional Irish dancing and music was one of them and the night we happened to stay at a hotel before we left was their "Traditional Irish night".  So with that, we bought our tickets we saw some incredible dancing, had amazing food and also listened to live music.

Going to Ireland has always been a dream of mine and it was pretty rad to see God's creation all around me every day. Traveling is such a gift and the fact that the Lord would allow me to do it is something I'm so undeserving of, yet more than thankful for.
