You know those days when God makes the traffic lights turn green the moment
you hit the crosswalk as you’re trying to book it to school and you accomplish
way more than usual? I had one of those. It's my second full day back in SF
and I could not be more thrilled to see what God has in store for this
semester. So far I've had only introductions to all my classes but it looks
like it’s going to be a lot of fun. Yesterday I had intro to painting two
(stoked for that) intro to Modernity & Modernism (not too stoked for that)
and today I had intro to digital photography (just moderately stoked) as well as intro
to drawing one (I think I'm stoked for that one, not sure yet).
The familiarity of getting back into cooking and buying supplies is
exciting. Oddly enough I sort of missed grocery shopping and experimenting with
food, not to say my mom's cooking didn't suffice because it sure did, but
sometimes it's fun to fend for one’s self for a season.
Being home for six weeks you really notice the difference between a very
small beach town and a large crazy city.
For example A couple of hours ago when I was buying supplies at BLICK (my go
to art store) the man at the cashier accidental forgot to ring up two of my items and
had to make another transaction and ended up feeling so bad he gave me his
employee discount, so that was nice. As I walked out of the store carrying my
under paid for items an odd old man was riding his bike and the area I live in
can best be described in one word, sketchy so that might give you some context as to why I call this man "odd". Anyways It was dark out and I wore a
hoodie for a specific reason but forgot to put it back on and as a result this
"odd" man yells "hey pretty girl" continually (hence the
specific reason). So as this man is yelling, he swerves on his bike and barely
misses oncoming traffic. A little shocked, I continued to walk with my hood
now on, thinking that would scare him enough to keep him quiet, but instead he now
starts yelling "I ALMOST DIED FOR YOU" and yes, this is continual as well.
Eventually I made my way into a crowded enough area where I could make myself disappear
and he finally gave up all hope.
You just don't get stories like this in a small beach town.
It's good to be back
Happy hump day!
